Volunteers Needed for Natural Building Project in Uganda

Two good friends of mine do beautiful natural building projects in sub-Saharan Africa through the small non-profit they started (www.earthrisingfoundation.org). This year there are two projects on the go ... one in building a children's home in Tanzania and the other in building a Birthing Centre that will support empowering births in rural Uganda.

For me natural building is as much an art form, a sculptural expression of union between earth and human as much as an environmentally ethical option to community development.

Currently, the Earth Rising Foundation is seeking volunteers for monthly stays between December 2009 to March 2010 to support the building of a Birthing Centre in Luwero District, Uganda with our partner organization Shanti Uganda Society.

For those interested, not only will you learn valuable natural building techniques, you will meet amazing people from around the world and make a meaningful contribution to an incredible and empowering project in rural Uganda. Participating in the build is a rewarding and life-altering experience.

For details, it's best to contact Adam (adam.perry at earthrisingfoundation.org) or respond to this posting and I'll connect you for details, application and help in arranging flights, visas, and all logistics.

Also interested to hear of other natural building projects that affect positive change within the community beautifully and ethically.
