What else do you want us to know?
Art and nature awareness have been my predominant integrative and expressive pursuits. I design and implement visual art workshops for children and adults. Together we explore nature through observational skills enhanced through drawing and other media. I enjoy co-teaching and find this provides a natural dynamic for educating students.

My life journey embraces the many challenges to awaken my nature-based, creative and social consciousness. I am thankful for the magnificent web of life on this earth and beyond, and the people who, as friends, teachers, colleagues , have shared this path.

I look forward to our world culture coming to understand and enjoy harmony and finding the balance for the destructive behaviors that have plagued us since the beginning of time.

I wasn't being cynical, if that's what you were saying here. My observation is that more advanced technologies are being created, in response, to control those who wish to live in harmony with each other and the natural world. Two parallel tracks ...

Highlights from My 'Art In Nature Challenge'

Some highlights from my Spring 2009 Art In Nature Challenge experience-

1. Standing on the ice shelf, S side of dock. Low tide, but not springtide where there is much less water in the bay. The eagles nest is across the bay and a little to the left of the white building. That area is another point opposite the one on this side of the bay.

Nature Journal entry: April Fool's Day

I am continuing with my Art In Nature Challenge Project journey. This is an entry from the beginning of April. I was hitting a kind of predictable 'wall' to connection. But, I know, as an artist, that everything is process, and to hang in there until the next breakthrough. Afterall, that's why I embarked on this 'diet' of daily nature intake. Thanks for reading and sharing my experience with me. - D.

Art In Nature Challenge, Day 15, March 29th

Home 'sit spot'

Day 15, Sun., March 29th

6:29 PM It is raining and overcast. The rain is fine, not torrential, so I can spend some time outdoors even w/o full rain gear. I can see, before crossing the yard, which is still covered with snow, that there are many ice floes scattered around the bay. Earlier, I had noticed them afloat. I thought, 'Many ice floes... less ice shelf.' When I got down to the shore the ice shelf was still there. Below were large ice floes littering… Continue

Art In Nature Challenge, Day 7, March 21st

Catching up. My notes from Day 7, Sat. March 21st

Home 'sit spot' . It is clear and very calm. The surface of the water is glassy, so there is little breeze.

3:14 PM From my tree house/porch heard and saw birds, recent arrivals this Spring.
One sounded like finch. But, I couldn't identify the bird I saw. It looked like a grasshopper sparrow if I were to generally pick from the illustrations in my field guide. But, the bird didn't sound like a 'grasshopper' as the book desc… Continue

One Spirit canoe - with the blue figure is a depiction of the journey that I went through during my fathers final illness. I started to journey and a group of spirit warriors appeared in a large boat and took us through the islands of healing. There is a site www.omoma.net ( other museum of modern art) that has the pieces and stories. I need to update it but if you are interested there is material. ( there is password required but it is given in the text box)

thanks for your kindness D. I have had to close myself off to Manhattan culture, in the depths of my vertical drop it has been too much for me. I have been practicing Shamanic journey work for many years . Both the green spirit canoe and the teepees are from my experiences. The green canoe is also my birth family- 5 people. I am in the middle. My doctoral show was called "true stories of dreams and the paranormal" I painted scenes in a folky style of my shamanistic experiences. There are a couple on your site.
Still sounds like a cold way to spend the winter. You do not have to go outside at all?
bye for now
