- Hi to all, I am a Brazilian multimedia artist living and working in the Okanagan Valley. My interest is creating hybrid art pieces( site specific installations with a component of performance and/or public interaction).
The thread that unifies my latest installations is a reflection on our role as humans on this planet. My works aim to make a coherent conceptual statement about our disregard for natural things, the deconstruction of social peace, increasing violence in the world, permeated by a sense of environmental chaos resulting from our present greedy way of living.
The deliberate transformation of the interior of British Columbia’s farmland and orchards, where I live, accompanied by the disappearance of the farmer’s way of life, with his or her profound knowledge of their land and of their crops of choice, about weather patterns; the loss of information often generational, is very unsettling to me as an artist. I do not harbor illusions that my work could change people or reverse situations but I can, in my own small way make a comment on this current situation which is a reality in many parts of the world.
