I am very interested in studying the links between art and culture.
I see the artist as a creator of collective wealth (richesse collective), with a responsability to reflect on our daily cultural landscape and life. Artists must constantly take action in the public sphere.
Identity has been an important theme that I have explored for many years with my art work. I am presently interested in exploring identitiy individually and collectively, linking to a particular place which would create meaningful political community expressions. How does our society include and/or exclude people? The inclusion and exclusion of various groups of people in a particular community is very challenging. How can we, as artists, identify a problematic situation, how can we be part of a solution? How can people living on the margins live fully and be respected? I believe in the power of art to engage and motivate our communities to influence politics from the local to the global scale.
I am currently investigating ways to use language (spoken poetry) in video, in a affirmation of a cultural local group.

DAY 23.mp3 Sounds recorded between 8:30 - 8:45 AM: Gulls at a distance, Blue Jay, dog barking, one Robin singing near me and another one answering at a distance (probably a male courting a female since it is mating season), Magpie, footsteps on frozen grass.
